The Cotton Tree Café played host to Joyce enthusiasts, singers and musicians from teenagers to octogenarians across the county who enjoyed a night of world class literature, traditional folk songs, rebel ballads and music from harp, mandolin, flute and guitar. The celebration in the name of James Joyce presented an opportunity to celebrate all things Irish with particular focus on County Wexford. Brooklyn – Lights! Camera! Action! at the Athenaeum
The directors of Enniscorthy Athenaeum Limited are delighted to announce that the Athenaeum will definitely be centre stage for the Irish section of the filming of Colm Tóibín’s novel ‘Brooklyn’. Yesterday evening, official word was received from Acting Fire Officer, John Maher, that the Fire Authority would temporarily revoke the Closures Notice for a period of one month under section 20A (10) of the Fire Services Act 1981 and 2003 for the purposes of Sunset Films Ltd filming of ‘Brooklyn’. The notice is being revoked on the basis of the fire safety measures and management procedure as outlined in fire safety reports submitted by independent fire consultants.
